Session 1 Overview
This series begins with the practice of situating ourselves, which includes the opportunity for participants to reflect on:
- how our identities influence who we are as educators,
- how our values and beliefs impact how we support learners,
- what personal qualities we bring to our work; and
- to what extent do we celebrate diversity in our schools and classrooms.
These reflections lead to understanding that, rather than trying to include learners who we see as “different”, we strive to teach to diversity. In the session, we will think about intentions and perspectives that put learners in the center of our planning, and connects to local contexts.
